From the Rodanet dynasty in France, (A.H.) Augustin Hilaire was born in June 5th, 1837. Watchmaker and agent of Patek Philippe in France he was also a politician in Paris 2nd arrondissement. In 1858, at the age of 21 he won a silver medal for a pocket chronometer and later exhibited his watches in Geneva. He set up his business Rue Vivienne as of 1870 like indicated on the cuvette of this watch. He died at the age of 70 in 1907. Our present example is a perfect illustration of close collaboration between Rodanet and Patek Philippe in the late 19th century.
